Open source 3D Engine G3D 7.00 Released

G3D is a commercial-grade 3D Engine available as Open Source. G3D is used in games, tech demos, research papers, military simulators, and university courses. G3D provides a set of routines and structures that are needed in every graphics program. G3D is intended for users who are already familiar with C++ and DirectX or OpenGL. G3D allows users to write code that will compile and run on Windows, FreeBSD, Linux, and OS X without ifdefs or modifications.

G3D is built on OpenGL because it is platform independent and allows access to newer features than DirectX. G3D supports all OpenGL implementations, from software rasterization under Mesa to the latest GeForce and Radeon hardware accelerator cards. G3D supports images in PNG, TGA, BMP, JPG, PCX, PPM, PGM, PBM, DDS, and ICO format. G3D has loaders for the BSP, PLY2, IFS, 3DS and MD2 mesh formats.

You can get G3D installation details for all operating systems at this location.
