Freeware Applications to manage your iPod under Linux, Mac OS X and Windows


Floola and Yamipod are freeware applications to manage your iPod under Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.

Floola 1.5 version is available now. Floola can be directly run from your iPod and needs no installation. Floola supports any Windows (including Vista), Mac OS X 10.2 or newer and any Linux distribution with GTK installed. If you formatted or restored your iPod then for Floola to work, you have to run iTunes at least once and copy at least one song on the iPod. Also in Linux you'll need either gstreamer or lib xine applications.

Floola supports all common used iPod features like artwork, podcasts and smart playlists. Floola is able to convert audio or video incompatible with the iPod so that you can copy almost any file to it. You can add youtube and myspace videos by just entering the page url. Floola can find duplicated songs and songs lost in your iPod.

Yamipod v1.6 is available now. No installation is required under Mac OS X and Windows. Download Yamipod, extract it and then launch the application. For Yamipod to work, you have to run iTunes at least once and copy at least one song on the iPod.

In Linux also For Yamipod to work, you have to run iTunes at least once and copy at least one song on the iPod. Installation is simple in Linux. copy the libfmodex audio library to /usr/lib (root priviledges needed). Then mount your iPod somewhere inside /mnt or /media with read/write access. Make sure you have the df command installed. To run YamiPod just double click on YamiPod's binary.

Yamipod supports Mac OS X 10.2 or newer, Windows 98SE or newer and Any linux distribution with GTK 2.0. YamiPod is now available in 28 languages.
