DVDx is a free DVD backup tool. DVDx converts your DVD movies to VCD2.0/SVCD1.0/AVI/WMV in one step. It produces very good quality movies in AVI/MPEG1/MPEG2/WMV9 format and you don't need to have 5GB free on your hard disk. For this program to work you must have DirectX 8.1 or later. DVDx standard version is free and open-source. But DVDx standard version does not read copy protected DVDs.
DVDx is the only software to provide complete video plus audio plus subtitle preview. Also DVDx was the first DVD copy software to provide preview before encoding. DVDx complies with NTSC and PAL video standard.
